Who will succeed Bsit as Startup of the Year?

The Big Squeeze runs a new time squeezing program and picks the startup of 2020

Brussels, March 2, 2020 - On Thursday November 12, the Belgian tech startup community will meet again during The Big Squeeze. For this new edition, in Hôtel de la Poste in Brussels, Startups.be | Scale-Ups.eu, in collaboration with Failing Forward and The Growcery, created a completely new program specifically for tech startups. Thanks to the presence of different service providers, accelerators, incubators and relevant experts, they are provided with tools to scale up faster and stimulate their growth. And just like in 2019, The Big Squeeze Awards will be presented again this year, including the coveted Startup of the Year award.

Last year, Startups.be | Scale-Ups.eu, the one stop shop for entrepreneurship in technology, launched The Big Squeeze for the first time. The Big Squeeze is the successor of our successful Tech Startup Day. With this second edition, organized in collaboration with Failing Forward and The Growcery, the event is running a dedicated startup approach. Founders, CEO's and decision makers of (early stage) startups get acquainted with relevant stakeholders and tools during the event. From service providers to accelerators and incubators, during The Big Squeeze, Startups.be | Scale-Ups.eu provides a broad knowledge and different tools to make a startup grow in an efficient and time limited way. Cresco Business Law Firm, Volta Ventures, Innoviris will be present as well as top accelerators Imec.istart and Start it @KBC, and many more.

Through the Startups.be | Scale-Ups.eu network, the organization ensures a large turnout of thought leaders. The attending startups will be inspired by more than 15 expert classes with themes such as marketing, internationalization and financing. Catalina Daniels (ERA) and Pascal Coppens (Nexxworks) will give an expert class on soft landing in, respectively, the USA and China. But also proven startup founders bring best practices, testimonials, tips and tricks to this time squeezing event. The Big Squeeze aims to bring all players in the Belgian tech startup ecosystem together to network, learn and inspire. Which fits nicely with the mission of the organization: squeeze time, grow faster.

“Time squeezing is key for startups in order to stay ahead of the competition. At The Big Squeeze, startups meet relevant partners, service providers and experts all in one day. They'll reduce time by not having to make multiple appointments and travel around the country. 5-star experts, serial entrepreneurs, and peers will share their most valued experiences.” – Charlotte Gréant, General Manager at Startups.be | Scale-Ups.eu

Following good custom and tradition since the start of Tech Startup Day, the predecessor of The Big Squeeze, this year’s awards will again celebrate the most progressive startups. The jury chaired by Omar Mohout (Sirris) consists of Jurgen Ingels (Smartfin), Els Bellens (DataNews), Koen De Waele (Volta Ventures) and Thibault Claus (SRIW). Thanks to their years of experience and expertise in the startup scene, they have carefully selected different startups and scale-ups and finally nominated them in the following four categories: most innovative startup, student startup, scale-up of the year and finally startup of the year.
